Think I’ve gone as far as I can with the first lantern painting

It’s always difficult to know when a painting is finished. I’m going to wreck this one if I carry on much more – I think that’s a good enough reason to stop! It’s time to clean the brushes and palette and move it to one side so I can finish off the sister painting

It’s been an interesting couple of weeks. I can confidently say that I’ve rediscovered my love of painting. I have found myself completely absorbed in the process, which frees my mind of stress and worry – Who needs therapy?!

I’ve enjoyed using acrylics because they are cheap, quick drying and odourless – but I’m really missing painting in oil. I find it so much easier and rewarding. Unfortunately my current circumstances prevent me from using them for the time being, and I’m sure that I’ll appreciate it all the more when I finally get to use them again.

After my little rant some weeks back about the use of pre made canvasses, I’ve been thinking about purchasing a couple of small square box canvasses! I know, I know… but the lack of a studio and workshop means that I have nowhere to build the damn things. Maybe I should keep my opinions to myself in the future as not to look foolish. More contradictions to follow shortly.
